lemon juice

Instructions
Making the lemon syrup
Juice the lemons and reserve the rinds and set aside the lemon juice for later.
2 large lemons
Add water, sugar, lemon rinds to a small saucepan and bring to a simmer over medium heat.
1 cup sugar,
1 cup water,
¼ cup fresh basil leaves
Simmer for 5 minutes or until the lemons begin to soften a little.
Remove from the heat, add basil then place a lid over the top and allow to cool completely.
Once cool, strain the syrup mixture through a sieve and press out all of the juices from the lemons. Discard the lemon rinds and basil.
Lemon Basil Martini
Add ice, vodka, Italicus, lemon syrup and lemon juice to a cocktail shaker.
2 ounces Vodka,
1 ½ ounces lemon syrup,
¾ ounce Italicus,
1 cup ice,
1 ½ ounces lemon juice
Shake well for one minute.
Pour through a strainer into a martini glass.
Enjoy.
